Results of the Congregational Meeting

On Sunday, November 21, a special meeting was called to vote on a motion made by council to call Pastor Maureen Seifried as the Senior Pastor of Ascension.  Pastor Maureen received a 95% positive vote and accepted the call to serve as the Senior Pastor.  Pastor Maureen will continue to serve as the Interim Senior Pastor through December 31 and officially begin her tenure as Senior Pastor on January 1, 2022.  An Installation and Reception time and date TBD.  

Thanksgiving Eve Service

You are welcome to join us for a special service of Holy Communion on Thanksgiving Eve (Wednesday, November 24) at 7:00 p.m.

Stewardship Update

Thank you to everyone who returned their Estimate of Giving cards to the congregation.  To-date, a total of $218,490.00 has been pledged for the year of 2022.  If you have not returned a pledge card, you are invited to prayerfully consider your gift and return the card to the church.  Giving cards may be placed in the offering plate or mailed via USPS.   

Sunday Morning Bible Study

A four week study, focusing on the Advent readings for worship, will begin on Sunday, November 28 through Sunday, December 19. The group will meet in the Fellowship Hall from 8:30-9:15 a.m. We hope you can join us!  


Lydia Circle

Lydia Circle will be sponsoring their annual Giving Tree collection.  You may bring new or gently used hats, scarves, gloves, socks, and mittens to place on the tree (located in the narthex).  The items will be donated to Tenfold Ministries (formerly TLC).

The next Lydia Circle meeting will be on Tuesday, December 7 at 7:00 p.m.  The group will be making a craft to give to residents of Magnolia Manor in Willow Street.  Lydia Circle will meet again on Saturday, December 18 to host a party for residents at Magnolia Manor (time TBD).  

Bridge of Hope

Churches Respond. Homelessness Ends. Hope Begins.

Ascension will be collecting gift cards to give to our BOH family for Christmas. We will be collecting $25 gift cards to Wal-Mart, Target, Weis, and Giant.  They can be mailed to the church or dropped off (a red box has been placed on the Welcome Center). If we collect more than we need, then the additional gift cards will be given to another Bridge of Hope family.    

Joseph's Table

The next community take-out only meal will be held on Thursday, December 16 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.  More details to come!  

USPS Update

The postal service has asked that all correspondences sent to Ascension should use the P.O. Box address: Ascension Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 635 ,Willow Street, PA 17584.

Confirmation Class

Classes will resume on Sunday, January 9. Confirmation is for all youth who are currently in 6th through 8th grade. Please contact Pastor Maureen for more details (click here). 

ELCA Disaster Response

The U.S. has been devastated by a series of disasters over past year and a half: the COVID-19 pandemic, Wildfires in the Western part of the country, and Hurricanes/Tropical Storms in the Southern/Eastern part.  If you would like to make a donation to the relief and recovery efforts, or if you would like to read about the work of ELCA Disaster in these areas, click here to learn more about this ministry.  

Casting our Nets: Prayer Shawl Ministry

 Casting Our Nets, Ascension's Prayer Shawl Ministry, provides beautifully knitted and crocheted prayer shawls to members, family, and friends of the congregation.  If you would like a prayer shawl to give to someone experiencing illness, loss, or another need, please stop by the church.  Prayer shawls can be found in the closet located in the church library. Casting our Nets meets every 1st and 3rd Monday at 7:00 p.m. in the conference room. 

Solanco Food Bank Donations 

Non-perishable Food Items: Tomato Soup, Chicken Noodle Soup, Pudding cups, Snack on the Run (chicken or tuna) with crackers, Granola Bars, Rice Krispies Treats, Microwave Popcorn, Chef Boyardee Cans, Rice a Roni - chicken, Tuna Helper 

You may bring your donations to weekend worship or you may bring them to the office on T, W, Th (please call first).  You may also make monetary donations to the food bank by: 1) Making a donation through your giving envelope (Please write "Solanco Food Bank" on the envelope); 2) Send a check directly to Solanco Neighborhood Ministries (write "Food Bank" on the memo link), 355 Buck Road, Quarryville, PA 17566.
