Stewardship Fair Weekend

The next Stewardship Fair is scheduled for the weekend of May 4th and 5thThis fair is an annual event and will be a time to lift up, celebrate, pray about, and renew our commitments to Ascension through our Time and TalentsIf you would like to learn more about the ministries and outreach of the congregation, we invite you to come that weekendWe invite everyone who attends to take a “Time and Talent” form and discern how you can offer your gifts to the ministry and outreach of AscensionLight refreshments will be provided before worship on Saturday and after worship on Sunday.

   

New Members' Classes

The second class of the Spring will be held on Sunday, April 21 following 9:30 a.m. worship. You are welcome to join us to learn more!


Ascension Greening Project

Phase 1: This part of the greening project has been completed.  THANK YOU to all persons who helped during the work days on March 20 and 21! 

Phase 2: Is planned for sometime in September or October.  We will plant herbaceous plugs/pilot holes; and watering.

Phase 3 will follow: Ongoing stewardship of plantings/gardens.


Men's Group

Men's Group will meet on Saturday, May 4 in the Fellowship Hall.  Cooking begins at 7:30 a.m.; breakfast at 8:30 a.m. All men of the parish are invited to attend.  This will be the final Men's Group of the 2023-2024 cycle.  Men's Group will not meet during the summer and will resume in September.  


Lydia Circle

All women of the parish are invited to join us for our monthly gathering of Lydia Circle. This group meets on the FIRST Tuesday of each month.  The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 7.

WASS Luncheon

The next Widows and Senior Singles gathering will be held Wednesday, May 15 at noon.  The group will gather at BJ's Brewhouse (at the Park City Center). Please sign up on the sheet posted on the bulletin board! 


Joseph's Table Community Meal

The next take-out only meal will be held on Thursday, April 18 from 5:30-6:00 p.m.   

Sign-up sheets will be posted two weeks before the dinner for preparation, distribution volunteers, parking lot attendants, and dishwashers!  


First Sunday Fellowship

First Sunday Fellowship is held on the First Sunday of each month immediately following worship.  You are welcome to join us for light refreshments and fellowship!  

Would you consider being a host/hostess for one of our upcoming Fellowship Hours? We are looking for persons to host in 2024 - June and August through December.  Please sign up in the narthex and see the bulletin board for details to contact Julie S, the Fellowship Hour Coordinator. 

We need worship for our spirit and fellowship for our soul. 


Casting our Nets Prayer Shawl Ministry

 Casting Our Nets, Ascension's Prayer Shawl Ministry, provides beautifully knitted and crocheted prayer shawls to members, family, and friends of the congregation.  If you would like a prayer shawl to give to someone experiencing illness, loss, or another need, please stop by the church.  Prayer shawls can be found in the closet located in the church library. Casting our Nets meets every 1st and 3rd Monday at 7:00 p.m. in the conference room. 


The Heritage Chorale

The Heritage Chorale will hold their Spring Concert Series, "For the Beauty of the Earth." Concert dates are: Sunday, April 28 at 4:00 p.m. at James Street Mennonite Church (323 James St, Lancaster); Sunday, April May 5 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church (10 Delp Road, Lancaster); and Sunday, May at 4:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church (3131 Columbia Ave., Lancaster).  You are welcome to attend! 


Prayers for Israel and Palestine, and the Conflict in the Middle East

We continue to pray for peace in Israel and Palestine.  If you would like to respond with financial support to the crisis or read about the ELCA's relationship with partners in the region (click here).  You are also invited to read about the work of Lutheran World Relief in the Middle East (click here)


Water Street Mission Collection

If you would like to make an in-kind donations to the "Needs List" at WSM, Ascension will be collecting the following items for April (please place items in the designated box): Potting soil (for spring planting); New Journals; Blue/Black Pens; Playdough (no generic, please) 


Solanco Food Bank Donations 

Non-perishable Food Items: Triscuits/Wheat Thins; Mayonnaise; Cheerios (regular, yellow box); pudding cups; applesauce cups; juice boxes; oatmeal (boxes of individual packs); Seafood Chowder/Soup; No/Low Salt Soups

Non-Food Items: Baby wipes; diapers (sizes: 5, 6, and pull ups)

You may also make monetary donations to the food bank by: 1) Making a donation through your giving envelope (Please write "Solanco Food Bank" on the envelope); 2) Send a check directly to Solanco Neighborhood Ministries (write "Food Bank" on the memo link), 355 Buck Road, Quarryville, PA 17566.


Bridge of Hope

Churches Respond. Homelessness Ends. Hope Begins.

Ascension will continue to support BOH families with rental assistance.  If you would like to make a donation, please label your offering envelope "BOH rental assistance."  Thank you to everyone who continues to make a gift! 

Ascension has formed a new Neighboring Group to accompany a mother and her family.  Ascension has not been assigned a family (the current projection is that we will be paired with a family in the Spring).  When the Neighboring Group is assigned a family, rental support will be sent to support our Neighboring Family.
