The music ministry at Ascension Church currently includes a Chancel Choir which performs several times a year and rehearses on Sundays after the service (10:45-11:45). Ascension Academy is a music school that offers a variety of instrumental lessons: keyboard, guitar, violin, trumpet, clarinet, flute, and saxophone. Students occasionally perform in the church services. The Instrumental Scholar program offers a scholarship to a gifted high school student. About our Music Director

JOHN ZIELINSKI was born and raised in Seattle, where he attended Seattle University and the University of Washington. He has performed concerts throughout the United States, Canada, South America, and Europe. Mr. Zielinski was a staff pianist and member of the extension faculty at the Boston Conservatory of Music for ten years. He has performed with the Seattle University Chamber Symphony, the Broadway Symphony, and the Claflin Hill Symphony, among many other ensembles. In 2019 he was awarded the Colleague Prize by the American Guild of Organists. John is active in the American Guild of Organists, where he has served on the board of directors for the past six years and maintains their website. He is also a counselor for the Workshop for Young Performing Artists, administered by Musical Arts Society.
